The company was started as much to enhance everyday motivation and look, as it was to provide an opportunity to share faith during a time when talking about religion has become convoluted and contentious. Chirho, pronounced (kI - rO), contains the first two letters of "Christ" in Greek (chi=X, and rho=P). The chi-rho symbol, also known as a Christogram, is one of the most commonly used symbols in Christian art and can be found in churches all over the world. It represents victory over sin and death. The name of the company, Chirho, draws inspiration from the meaning behind chi-rho and the use of symbolisms in Christian design.

"I started Chirho because I was frustrated with the Christian image. A Los Angeles native, I was particularly bothered by the frumpy, seemingly unthinking caricature portrayal of Christians in films and the media at large. So I wanted to create modern, sophisticated jewelry to help Christians shine in a manner that was worthy of them. As a preacher's kid who has grown up in the church her whole life, I also felt confined by the unliateral way evangelism was encouraged. I believe there is more than one way to share your faith and jewelry seemed like a great way to start conversations. When I’m not working on jewelry, I can be found stringing words together. After working at fashion publications, I have found a way through Chirho to combine two concepts seldom welded together: religion and style.
