Silver Widow's Mite Coin Necklace

$85

The Widow's Mite Necklace showcases a replica of the actual coin believed to be offered by the 'widow who gave all she had.' Recounted in the Gospel of Mark and Luke, Jesus sat inside a temple and watched people as they filled the treasury with money. Many rich people threw in large amounts. Then a widow came and contributed just two coins or mites.

A mite, or a Greek lepton, was the smallest and least valuable coin in circulation in Judea, worth about six minutes of an average daily wage - or "worth only about a few cents," according to the Bible. But because the widow had given all she had, her whole livelihood, she had given more than anyone else, Jesus said.

The Widow's Mite necklace serves as a reminder that what we do and give, however seemingly insufficient, can be enough in the eyes of God who gauges our hearts.
